Hockey strategy - under/over 1.5 goals in the first period

We present you an interesting strategy for betting on hockey matches. The steps for its implementation are the following:

  • we choose the last three matches of each team. Indeed, the last three meetings, not the last three rounds. Sometimes a match may be canceled or postponed to another race day. That is why we mark the last 3 chronologically played games.
  • What interests us from these meetings is the number of goals scored by each team in the first period. The total amount is divided by three and rounded down if necessary.
  • We do the previous two steps for each team and then add up the values for each pair.
  • If the value obtained is equal to or greater than 3, then the probability in this match, in the first third to have more than 1.5 goals is quite high

You can repeat these calculations for other hockey matches and based on the results you can decide whether to bet on single matches, an accumulator or to use some betting system.

The odds for this type of event are around 1.65 to 1.85, but this depends of course on the championship and especially on the opponents. At such odds, the combined system 3 out of 4 seems to us the most tempting. If you catch 3 matches, you kill your bet, and if you guess all 4 games, then the profit is quite good.

Example: Calgary Flames - Toronto Maple Leafs

The hosts from Calgary Flames finished in the first period with the following results: 3-0, 2-1, 1-2, ie they scored a total of 6 goals or an average of 2 goals in the first period. The guests from Toronto have achieved these results in the first part: 1-0, 4-0, 2-3, or again a total of 6 goals and an average of 2 goals in the first third. In this case, statistically, we can expect 4 goals from both teams, which is enough compared to our strategy.

We will also give an example with a system bet 3 out of 4, and for convenience, we will use an average odds of 1.6 for all matches and a bet of 1 unit for each combination or a total of 4 units.

Example:

There are 4 possible combinations, and they are analogous:
1.60 x 1.60 x 1.60 = 4.10

In two or fewer correct bets, the system is invalid and we lose the entire stake of 4 units.
With 3 hits, we win one combination or 4.10 units, so we are even.
For predicting 4 correct events, we catch all 4 combinations or 4 x 4.10 = 16.40 units and a net profit of 12.40 units.

So choose the games you want to bet on and remember something very important: Don't make the mistake of betting your full bank. In this way, you are doomed to failure in the long run. Always bet between 10 and 25% of your account.
