End of Season? Don’t Worry: This Summer Has Plenty of Soccer

The top domestic leagues across Europe have wrapped up for a few months, but it’s not as if soccer is going anywhere over the next few months. In fact, as chance would have it, there is an extraordinary amount of soccer coming up in June and July. In light of that, we have picked out a few highlights, as well as pinpointing where the value bets are found:
UEFA Nations League Finals 5th – 9th June
A lot has been made of England’s chances here as 7/4 favourites with Ladbrokes, with Gareth Southgate seemingly building a Three Lions team that will finally be able to win major honours. Still, it looks a big ask as a long season might take a toll on England’s players. The team at Free Bets UK is likely to be all over this one with the latest tips for the tournament, but we can’t help thinking Portugal is the way to go at 2/1. They have home advantage, don’t have as many players on Europa League/Champions League Final duty and a certain Senhor Ronaldo will be well rested. The Netherlands (3/1) and Switzerland (11/2) should be respected, of course, but this has the feel of a showdown between Portugal and England on 9th June.
FIFA Women’s World Cup 7th June – 7th July
There is a very, very good chance that it is not the England men’s team that ends the hoodoo of international success. The Lionesses will be raring to go in France, full of confidence after winning the SheBelieves Cup earlier this year. England are 4th favourites with most bookmakers, but they can be found at a standout price of 7/1 with Betway. USA and France (hosts) are in at 7/2 and Germany at 11/2: It’s going to be tight, but Phil Neville’s team can go all the way. The squad was recently announced, and it features some of the best talents in the women’s game. Time to deliver on a lot of promise.
African Cup of Nations 21st June – 9th July
AFCON has now moved to a summer slot, so it will no longer be in the firing line for disgruntled managers in mid-season. Egypt, as hosts, joins Senegal and Ghana as favourites. Frankly, the bookies are all over the place with the betting, and that represents a bit of an opportunity for punters. For example, Senegal (our pick) is priced at 7/1 third favourites with Bet365, but the Lions of Teranga are the 4/1 favourites with Paddy Power. The best price we can find for Egypt is 11/2 (Paddy Power), whereas BetVictor is 8/1 on Ghana. If you want a value bet, then the 19/1 offered by Paddy Power for Algeria looks outstanding.
Copa America 14th June – 7th July

A best price of 13/8 (BetVictor) to win an entire tournament isn’t anything to get excited about, but it is hard to look past Brazil who will be hosting the Copa America next month. The Seleção is spoilt for choice when it comes to players at the moment, and they should still have enough to come out on top even if they play some of the ‘kids’. The likes of Argentina, Chile and Uruguay are in something of a transition period at the moment, despite bringing strong squads to the tournament: Barring some sort of disaster, the trophy will go to Brazil.
