Ismael Saibari is set to leave PSV for a fee starting at €60 million. Each day on Voetbalzone, we present bold claims about the top Dutch clubs, and we also shine a spotlight on teams outside the traditional top three. Saibari has emerged as PSV’s undisputed star this season, and a summer departure now appears inevitable. Manager Peter Bosz has stated that the club will only consider offers of at least €60 million for the midfielder, underlining his value within the transfer market. Should such a bid materialise, it would represent a substantial profit for PSV, given that the club signed Saibari from KRC Genk for a fraction of that sum in 2020. The player’s rapid development since then has attracted the attention of several European heavyweights, though no official approach has been confirmed at this stage. The proposed transfer fee reflects the premium placed on versatile, attacking midfielders capable of dictating play and contributing goals. At 22 years old, Saibari fits that profile perfectly, having already amassed impressive statistics in the Eredivisie and shown flashes of creativity on the continental stage. For PSV, cashing in on Saibari would allow the club to reinvest in other areas and maintain financial sustainability. Yet fans will hope that the exit does not trigger a domino effect, weakening the squad’s overall strength heading into next season. So, will Saibari depart Eindhoven for around €60 million this summer? The rumour mill is turning, and your views are welcome below.
The 22-year-old, whose Moroccan parents moved from Terrassa (a 40-minute drive from Barcelona) to Belgium when he was six, began his career in the youth setup at KRC Genk before joining PSV in the summer of 2020.
He made his senior debut on 1 November 2020, though that lone Eredivisie outing would be his only action that campaign. Saibari then spent the next two seasons honing his craft with Jong PSV in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, using those minutes to refine his passing and movement.
As the campaign unfolded, he cemented his status as a key creative hub, helping PSV secure a third consecutive Eredivisie crown.
The Moroccan international is enjoying a sensational season. With five matches remaining, Saibari has already surpassed his previous campaign’s goal tally by three and now leads the club’s scoring chart. In Saturday’s thrilling 4-3 Eredivisie win over FC Utrecht, the 25-year-old midfielder netted twice and supplied one assist, underlining his status as the club’s creative fulcrum. Thanks in part to Feyenoord’s goalless draw with FC Volendam the following day, PSV were crowned national champions for the 25th time after matchday 29.
In addition to his exceptionally strong club campaign, Saibari has also excelled on the international stage. He started every match at the Africa Cup of Nations, played between December and January, and scored in the quarter-final victory over Cameroon (2-0). Morocco reached the final but lost 1-0 to Senegal. The victory was later awarded to the Atlas Lions by the African Football Confederation after Senegal’s players walked off the pitch in protest at a refereeing decision.
Bosz recently valued the Eindhoven star at €60m and described him as a perfect fit for the Premier League. Transfermarkt currently rates Saibari at €32m, a figure that could rise further ahead of the World Cup. A move to a top league appears likely, though the transfer fee remains undecided.
