Wim Kieft and René van der Gijp burst into uproarious laughter the moment the name of an Ajax player is mentioned. The unfiltered reaction, captured during their studio discussion, speaks volumes about the relaxed chemistry between the two footballing pun

Maarten Paes might be wise to avoid the KieftJansenEgmondGijp podcast for now. The 27-year-old Ajax goalkeeper has been repeatedly ribbed in recent episodes.
When the conversation lulls during KJEG Blessuretijd, René van der Gijp bursts into laughter: “Wouter Paes!” His colleagues quickly correct him.
Wim Kieft chimes in. “Where does he actually come from? Where did he play for Ajax? Seriously... Where did he play for Ajax? America? Oh...”
Kieft chimes in, “He’s tall, but he can’t keep goal.” Gijp then muses, “Did he work with Jordi Cruijff in Indonesia?”
Journalist Michel van Egmond then summarises Paes’s career based on Wikipedia. “Zero matches for NEC, zero wins.”
Van der Gijp roars with laughter: “That was the highlight of his career!” Van Egmond brings the segment to a close: “Who cares, anyway.”
Signed from Dallas in February for €1.5 million, Paes is under contract at Ajax until mid-2029. In his first six Eredivisie appearances he has conceded seven goals and kept two clean sheets. The Nijmegen-born shot-stopper often looks for a technical solution, and that tendency occasionally leads to near-misses.
