Former AC Milan midfielder, the Ivorian Franck Kessié, has moved closer to a return to Serie A during the current season.

According to Italy's "Calciomercato" network, Kessié has taken a fresh step towards Juventus after the two parties reached a verbal agreement. Fabio Miretti's move to Beşiktaş is close to clearing the way for the deal to be completed.

Lighting up the final days of the window for the Old Lady, the former Milan man is exactly the kind of midfielder Juventus have been chasing. He has always been a favourite of Ricky Massara, Cristiano Giuntoli's associate and Juventus's technical director. Now matters have become more serious.

Kessié and Massara won the Serie A title together at Milan, and they spoke again over the past weeks, when the midfielder received a huge new financial offer from Al-Ittihad Jeddah that left him hesitating over his future.

The Ivorian has given himself time to decide, but he wants to return to Serie A, and he wants a key role. Juventus's salary offer of around 4 million euros per year meets the aspirations of the 31-year-old.

A two-year contract worth 10 million euros with Al-Ittihad now looks a distant prospect, while the Juventus management works to make room on the squad list.

Arthur's contract has been terminated, and should Miretti's move to Turkey go through, nothing will stand in the way of Kessié joining Juventus. You can discuss the topics and news in greater depth on the Kooora forums
