It was Toney's sixth hat-trick in the Pro League. That tally draws him level with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema on the list of players who have most often scored three or more goals in a single match.
Toney ran the show against Abha. His three goals steered Al-Ahli to a big win and proved once again that he punishes teams whenever space and chances open up in front of goal.
Only two players sit above him. Morocco's Abderrazak Hamdallah has bagged hat-tricks in 11 different Pro League matches, while Syria's Omar Al-Somah has done it in nine.

Six hat-tricks tell the story of the Englishman's remarkable consistency since he arrived in Saudi Arabia. His name has become shorthand for matches in which chances turn into goals by the handful.
The gap to the top is closing fast. Toney is no longer proving himself, he is trading blows with the men who built the competition's history, and one question lingers: can he reel in Al-Somah and Hamdallah in the hat-trick race over the seasons to come?
