Fenerbahçe hit back after poor start to the season: starring role for Mason Greenwood | Goal.com

Fenerbahçe bounced back from defeat in the opening round of the Süper Lig. Driven in part by Mason Greenwood's two goals and one assist, Fener proved too strong for Konyaspor at home in a 4-2 win and picked up their first three points of the season.
Nathan Aké started for Fenerbahçe again after lining up against Gençlerbirligi SK in the 2-1 defeat. Ismail Kartal made no fewer than seven changes to his starting XI, bringing in Greenwood, Kerem Aktürkoglu, N'Golo Kanté, Nelson Semedo and Archie Brown among others.
After just seven minutes, Fenerbahçe were in front. Vedat Muriqi opened the scoring for the Istanbul side when Archie Brown flicked Marco Asensio's free-kick towards goal and the striker slid in the rebound: 1-0.
Konyaspor hit back almost immediately. Three minutes later, Ebrima Colley raced through the middle and kept his cool one-on-one with Ederson to level it at 1-1.
By the 20th minute, Fenerbahçe had restored their lead. After a handball, Kartal's side won a penalty and Greenwood stepped up. The Englishman saw his effort saved but reacted quickest to turn in the rebound at the second attempt: 2-1.
Just past the half-hour mark, it was 3-1. Greenwood turned provider and Asensio picked out the far bottom corner, giving goalkeeper Deniz Ertas no chance. Soon after half-time, Fenerbahçe moved further clear when Greenwood struck again to make it 4-1.
With the game under control, Kartal rang the changes to save energy for the return leg in the Champions League play-offs against Olympique Lyon. Konyaspor did pull one back in the 94th minute through Deniz Türüç, but it came too late. Fenerbahçe therefore won their second league match 4-2.
