José Mourinho went viral on Saturday evening with an intervention during Real Madrid - Espanyol (1-2 win). The Portuguese manager sprinted towards Denzel Dumfries to save him from a yellow card.
After just nine minutes, Real Madrid went ahead against the Barcelona club. Jude Bellingham headed an indirect free-kick into the net: 1-0.
At that point, Real Madrid started taking their time over restarts. Dumfries also delayed over a throw-in for Los Blancos.
From this season, though, referees have immediately counted down from five to zero at restarts. If play has not restarted by zero, the throw-in goes to the opposition.
Right in front of Mourinho's dugout, Dumfries held on to the ball too long over his throw-in. Mourinho then charged out and shouted at the Dutchman that he had to hurry up.
Real Madrid still conceded an equaliser, but the team still won it in the final minute through a goal from Carlos Espi.
