The Spanish Football Referees' Association has decided not to take any action against Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho before the disciplinary committee over his comments following the Madrid derby against Atletico Madrid.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", the association, working alongside the legal department of the Technical Committee of Referees, had weighed up a complaint to the disciplinary committee over Mourinho's remarks after the final whistle. The plan was to refer the matter to the Spanish Football Federation, opening a file that could have ended in a sanction for the Portuguese.

Deliberations dragged on throughout Monday. In the end, the newspaper says, the Referees' Association chose to drop the complaint.

No action will follow for now, despite what the Real Madrid boss said after the match. He took aim at main referee Miguel Angel Ortiz Arias, and reserved his sharpest words for the man on video assistant referee duty, Daniel Trujillo Suarez.

Mourinho questioned the credentials of the Madrid referee, pointing out that he holds no international status and, at 41, has never officiated a major match.

Turning to the man in the video room, the Portuguese dredged up incidents from last season involving Real Madrid.

Mourinho now walks away from a punishment that could have followed had the file been opened. The sanction might have run to a four-match ban, plus a fine of between 601 and 3,005.06 euros. You can discuss the topics and news in greater depth in the "Kooora" forums
