Yan Diomande signs mega contract at Real Madrid: move from RB Leipzig to Los Blancos complete | Goal.com

Los Blancos officially announced the signing of Diomande on Thursday afternoon. The Ivorian has signed a seven-year contract in Madrid until 2033. According to media reports, Leipzig will initially receive a transfer fee of 125 million euros, and including bonus payments the sum could yet rise to as much as 140 million euros.
The base fee alone makes Diomande, alongside Florian Wirtz (125 million euros from Leverkusen to Liverpool in 2025), the third most expensive departure in Bundesliga history. Only Jude Bellingham (127 million euros from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid in 2023) and Ousmane Dembele (148 million euros from Borussia Dortmund to Barcelona in 2017) cost more. For RB Leipzig, meanwhile, Diomande is the most expensive sale in the club's history.
The 19-year-old's departure from Leipzig this summer had become increasingly apparent in recent weeks. Liverpool, Manchester City and above all Paris Saint-Germain are said to have been among the other top European clubs courting Diomande.
Leipzig are said to have recently turned down several offers worth around 100 million euros. Real then stepped up and put a little more on the table for their target, who is now set to light up the wing at the Bernabeu.
While RB held out, there was already the threat of unrest in Saxony. Diomande initially did not travel with the team to the training camp in Austria, officially due to illness. He later joined up after all, only now to leave again and head to Madrid.
Only last year, Diomande had moved from CD Leganes to Leipzig for a transfer fee of 20 million euros. After a strong first season in the Bundesliga, he is now returning to Spain and, with Real, has joined one of the absolute top clubs. Leganes, by the way, are also receiving a hefty share of the money.
